Mission Statement St. George Greek Preschool & Kindergarten's mission is to provide an environment where children can grow and develop, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and physically, while being immersed in the Greek language.
School Description We are an immersion preschool taught in Greek. School is in session August to June and follows Montgomery County Public Schools's start and end dates. Each class is taught by an early childhood Greek speaking teacher. Every week a different subject is the focus of the classroom. Parents receive weekly emails with the key vocabulary and concepts. The children engage in various hands-on activities designed to introduce them to the current learning objectives.
Goals The main goals of the school are communication and Greek language development and introduction to the fundamental religious beliefs and Greek culture. History Our program was started, in 2009, by a group of St. George moms, with the support of Father Dimitrios Antokas and the parish council, under the direction of Kyria Nicoletta Argyridou. The moms were gathering regularly as part of the Little Angels, a caregiver and child playgroup, at St. George. They had a vision of creating something more organized that embraced the Greek Language. Between 2012-2023, Kyria Marilena Tsirigotakis-Michalas was the director and helped to grow the program to meet the demands of our community. The program has grown an incredible amount, from two classes to five different classes.
Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, Kyria Fani Papalamprou took over as our school's director. We are proud to see our programs continue to flourish under her leadership.
